Moreno Theme

Say howdy to Moreno, our September 2013 theme release! Thinking of a grid-style theme with flat color combinations, we decided to create a special design that will perfectly fit your business or photography site. It comes with dark and light style variations making it suitable to a broad range of websites.

Moreno comes with an exclusive feature - a special module position called Mosaic, which features a nice animated grid layout with unique module sizes which are responding to different screen resolutions. Additionally we've added a fancy image overlay to highlight your images. Further you can select a special article boxed style which will make your sites articles look like the panels.

Moreno is based on Warp 7 and provides full support for LESS. The front-end is completely built with UIkit and can be modified through the Customizer. You can change colors, spacing and fonts without having to write a single line of code. To get you started, Moreno already provides 8 different style variations to choose from.

  • Full UIkit integration
  • 8 pre-built style variations available
  • Mosaic module position with responsive grid-style
  • Customizer with color picker and Google fonts support
  • Beautiful off-canvas navigation for mobile devices
  • All Warp framework features are available

Looks great. One thing that has confused me since warp7 is how to implement all the uikit styles in the layouts page. With this new template they are all new styles. So does the same markup apply? And the template will translate it to a Morena look?

Pre warp7, you used to show the markup on that page, now you just show the examples and I find it hard to match up what you've done with the getuikit.com website. It would be handy to have the markup below each example or maybe a tooltip of the markup.

        Agree with you both.

It would be nice to see some markup for getting the effects on the template. I had to use firebug to get some markup and had to play around for most of this afternoon to get something resembling the demo.

It's a lovely template though. I love it. The new mosaic position is beautiful in its simplicity. At last, just lump in some modules and the template does the heaven lifting. Nice.

I agree. I am fully supportive of the Yootheme team and a huge thanks for all the hard work but is it me or have modern designs moved away from a website being simple, clean and easy to navigate without the need to heavierly hack the css coding. I seems to spend my time stripping back the design. On a more positive note - can I suggest we have an opportunity to submit framewire diagrams with a few details of existing business sites that can be immitated perhaps or at least inspire.

I am hoping Master comes not as a regular monthly release, but a special release in addition to the monthly release. As a paying subscriber, it would not be beneficial to my membership for a monthly release be a free release.

Let me try to precis my review :)

    - Metro style templates are unsalable to business customers and small enterprises
    - Fullscreen templates like LAVA are also very difficult to use for small enterprises. Customers likes clear and modern styles and no kind of gimmicks shown in the last club templates
    - Please create/design some boxed templates in modern style
    - It would be great if you would fill the templates with more demo content like user templates club. your demo content is always Zoo and Icons ... some components that a lot of your customers not use

For me the last template I could used was "Pace". Fullscreen-templates like GLASS and SOLAR are not the kind of stuff that my customers would by. The reasons are very easy: 95% of all possible customers don't have thousands of high quality and fullscreen pics to fill out this templates. Furthermore onepage-templates are not the daily reality for the most users. I don't like them.

Looking forward to the next month template!

    Kind regards,
    Jörg

If you need a business theme take a look at our Nano3 theme. It is already build on Warp 7.

Regarding Lava and Moreno: They don't have to look so wide. You can customize the width easily in the customizer. You also don't need to use the Mosaic effect of Moreno. It is optional not a must. On the frontpage we always try to show what can be done with each theme and what is special. Of course often this reflects popular web trends like currently flat design with large images. But each theme can easily look like a standard business theme. They don't have to be that wide. You don't need large images. All this can easily customized.

I agree with you Sasha. I love the newer templates. I think Yoo Theme is doing a great job. If I sold templates I would want to show off all the features on the homepage as well. The Moreno theme can be easily customized for a variety of websites. from a band site, portal, or business. I look as a template as the foundation for a website. If a Joomla website is built with solid code and framework it can be customized for any type of website. Yoo Theme is still one of the best Joomla template providers in the world and keeps getting better!

I'm with you Sascha. Keep doing what you're doing. Any person who is expecting a finished article website with a template is living in dreamland and has unrealistic expectations. The reason I joined a template club is to look for inspiration and the latest design trends, as well as of course most importantly having a well coded base to work from. As far as I'm concerned you are providing this. If people want a template to look a certain way then all they have to do is customise it, the documentation on how to do this is more than sufficient - I guess some people just don't want to spend the time learning how to customise?
Keep up the good work yooGuys - I would rather have an over designed template with stuff I don't neccesarily need (because I can just turn them off) - at least you are trying to offer customers a choice.

But finally also, I think it is a good point made to listen to what 'type' of template yootheme customers want, maybe a monthly poll? That way you can have a good idea of what people are looking for, and people then have no right to complain if you produce a template on the back of this demand - but as someone else already stated, no matter what you do, someone will always be unhappy.

        Cheers,

        Keith

If your clients aren't paying you for design, and they're not paying you for development, and they're not paying you for photography, and they're not paying you to find stock art, what is it that you're doing for them? Installing Joomla and data entry?

        "Installing Joomla and data entry?"

Yootheme do the design. Maybe for some they over design but you can use what you want - no-one is forcing you to use it all.

Yootheme do the development. Warp 7, new UIKit etc - this all just happens does it?

It wouldn't matter what yootheme did - someone wouldn't be happy.

To be honest I'm stunned that so many people want to get a fully finished version of their website for the cost of membership. That would make for a lot of same look sites. The reason you use a template club, is in my opinion, that you get a range of templates through the year that you can customise and make our own. Yes, you may have to change code and css but you don't write it from scratch do you?

If you want a really individual template either do it yourself - you'll have fun doing it, or get a freelancer to do one from psd files that you produce.

Building a template takes a serious amount of work and testing. Try it, then moan again.

          Dear swissa,

I am with you and I think that Yootheme is the best template club around!

But how you could see / read there a lot of users there wishing an other kind of template styles as Yootheme did it the last few month.

In Germany we call it "eine gesunde Mischung" - an mix of template styles for all kinds of usage. Since a few month the templates are too coltish for my personal opinion.

And... I think the template style of the last month is too similar...but this is my personal opinion too!

          Have a nice day,

          Jörg

At last...proper dark and light options in same default theme...nice. Not sure I agree with the need for all themes to be 'business-like'...sometimes you need something wild to bolster your arsenal of tools...how long would it take you to design Moreno if asked by a client? Use it as a theme for a sub-set of pages or a features section (Galler/catalogue, etc). The only frustrating thing I see is that we are in the early stages of Warp 7 and everyone wants to push and push, but there are only so many hands in Yootheme doing the work....UIkit is there to help out a little...I have to learn patience, as do many of us, but as the months roll by, we'll get there. Agree that user suggestions or design submission would be great, especially if the designs could be in a system that allowed us to vote up designs...each winning design at the end of the month is worked on by Yootheme in the next or second month following the voting closure.

So, Yootheme, this would be a great step forward. Please remember that we are in tune with our clients' needs and our own needs. Remember that we are clients (of Yootheme) too and sometimes we should be offered the chance to ask for something that isn't on the menu...that's great customer service and it empowers your community of customers.

At least for me warp 7 is not as good as i supossed, i think it was easier to customize in warp 6 and also previous templates were better than new ones wich i dont find them useful.
I always used nano2 and create custom templates and with that template i was able to do anything i wanted.
with nano3 i find it much harder.
In design since infinite i dont really like new ones

I totaly agree with you ! The new ulkit and warp 7 is very hard to customize, it's perheaps good for people how have no knoledge with CSS but for me the old style configuration with overide css was 1000000 more easy to use than now... I think YooTheme have to give the 2 possibility (with or not the new setup configuration)... And about the last theme, link you, I found that it's not so beautiful than before (since the infinite theme...)...

Metro is a big FAIL for Microsoft, not so for web design.
I think it looks good and has a place just like any other theme.
This new them 'Moreno' is extremely flexible and can be customised in a way that suits most uses, in my opinion.

Before criticising, why not install the demo and place around with it, see what it can do. I'm seriously considering using this theme for a business site.

Although I'm new here, I'm very impressed with the features and the awesome ability to modify the themes, thumbs up for module design!
Beats the pants off most of themes ;-)

I just don't understand some of the comments on here. This is by far one of the best responsive Joomla templates out there. With latest version of Warp & UI kit this template can be EASILY CUSTOMIZED to be used for ANY type of website. Yoo Theme is a template club and not your personal web designer. If you expect any template club to provide you with a template that meets your clients exact requirements then you are in the wrong line of work. Yoo Theme is is one of the best Joomla Template providers. The power of Warp / UI kit is beyond amazing!

    I love the tiled layout.
    I love the dark style.
For this: great work ... Respect!
But all the PC displays i use are at least 1680px wide - so there's a lot of wasted space.
On the other hand, the layout is completely disturbed on my iPad.
Maybe there's somebody out there knowing how to hack the theme to work properly on all resolutions?
And am I right that IE 8 is not supported? The layout is not disturbed, it's fully destroyed :-(

I'm looking forward for new themes in the future and thinking of a lifetime subscription :-))

    Best regards
