Put it on your wall! Our february template Pinboard is made of 5 different materials and you also get to choose from a wide range of nice wallpapers. More than 210 combinations are possible.

Pinboard comes with a largest collection of modules… we updated the designs of our popular post-it and polaroid styles and created completely new designs like cardboard, a note on checkered paper, oldschool printing paper and a tile. We also added 6 magnets and a pin. Together there are more than 80 different module combinations possible.

Most importantly we made use of our new overrides to create different stylings for blog layouts and other components. In this template the blogposts of the blog layouts (frontpage, section, category) appear on individual sheets of paper.

In the previous post we told you about our new template overrides (which you can download here) that render the Joomla output tablelessly. Now we can create websites that have semantic markup and a sensible structure. But actually the tables were not the only problem we had with the way the Joomla core treats content. Also we quickly reached the limits on how we could style the content. In this post we want to present some improvements we made with our overrides.

Hi everybody! With our latest template release Way Beyond we started to deliver overrides for Joomla's core output! This means that now not only the layout of our templates is tableless but also the core components which Joomla usually renders as tables. We restructured the whole HTML output. Now it is semantic and easily styleable with CSS. We also deliver a single, cleaned up CSS file which styles our overrides. One of the most important changes is the way we use the page class suffix. It is no longer attached to the existing CSS classes, which was a nightmare for web designers. Instead, we now use the page class suffix as an additional CSS class in a container which is wrapped around the core output. This is awesome for web designers because this way you can override existing CSS styles for specific pages very conveniently. Also our CSS styles only apply to our overrides and will not affect any other HTML code. You should take a look at it yourself :-)

About a year ago we worked hard in our labs to bring you our famous YOOtools extensions. Maybe you wonder which ace we got up our sleeve this time ;-). We know it's been a while since we released the last YOOtools and the Teamlog extension. It probably seemed that things had calmed down around us. The reason was that we were working on a new project that turned out to be of the more comprehensive kind, and we didn't want to get too ahead of ourselves yet. We just needed some time to develop it, see how it turns out, bugfix things, add features and change some things around again.

Today we are announcing that very soon it will be time to break our silence. Something big is close to being unveiled, and we're really excited about it. We don't want to let the cat out of the bag but we can say it is a long awaited Joomla extension. We're sure you'll love it, so take a look at our new teaser website and keep checking back within the next couple of weeks. Drumroll!

We got some changes in the new year. Maybe some of you already noticed that we relaunched our YOOtheme website two days ago. At first sight not much has changed but if you take a closer look you will notice that we made some major changes. One necessary step for us was to get rid of the old Joomla 1.0 installation and the SMF forum. In December we already moved our entire forum to phpBB3. So moving to Joomla 1.5 was the next step for us. We migrated our user database and developed our own plugin to synchronize the Joomla 1.5 and phpBB3 users. Also we used our new overrides for Joomla's core output to finally get our site fully tableless. The second step was to simplify the site's content and add a bunch of nice features: One of our new toys is this shiny new blog (yay!) which will keep you updated on YOOtheme, web design buzz or at times just entertaining stuff. Furthermore we focused on improving every single page, cleaning up the menu structure and optimizing the site usability. That took a lot of work in the last weeks. Now you will have a better user experience browsing our site.

We proudly present our new template: Way Beyond! Our first template to come with overrides for the Joomla core. What does that mean?

It means that we got rid of Joomla's tables. The whole content area is free of tables now, and we developed very neat CSS for our overrides, too. We did that to give you full control over the look of your website. Now you can easily style every part of your Joomla website with CSS. We rewrote all of Joomla's core components and threw out a bunch of unnecessary code, so now your site will load faster as well.

Also we optimized our module framework. From now on every styling you can apply via the module class suffix will work on any module position, no matter what kind of background that position has.

Our typography got polished, too. There are a couple of new elements like the drop caps you can put at the beginning of paragraphs and left and right insets to align your content more easily.
