ZOO released yesterday

Pro and Lite Edition of the ZOO are both available for download!

Yesterday was a big day for us. We released our work of the last 9 months to the public. We want to thank everybody for the nice feedback we received via twitter, email, comments and the forum! Some bugs were reported and we already fixed them. The Pro and the Lite Edition are both updated to 1.0.1 and are now available to download.

In the next weeks we will be working on more documentation and also publish more tutorials about the template system. Including an advanced guide on how to use the full power of the ZOO Editions. Anybody who didn’t download the ZOO yet? Jump over to the ZOO website, watch the video tour and get your own ZOO Edition.

You must and can be proud of this piece of work !
However before I buy it, I would expect a better search feature.
First, I figured out that values into a select element won't be taken into account in common search.
More, I would love to see an advanced search feature to be able to get all items in red for instance...
Keep moving forward, you're great !

Hi Antoine, the ZOO search plugin is automatically installed when installing the ZOO. Goto the plugin manager in the Joomla backend and enable the ZOO search plugin. Then the search should work.

        Hello Sascha,
the plugin was enable and is ok to find strings from text & textarea elements, but not with select.
As regards Advanced Search, I was pointing out the possibility to have dynamic search filters.
Is this kind of feature on the roadmap ?

Finally, very exciting product... i wonder how the Menu Module works? All i can see is a link to each Category, but it sounded like it would give me a complete list or access to the items!?! Can you give any more infos, please.

Great plugin. Always top notch stuff like anything yoo release.

Anyone else having trouble getting the category to show up? The item view works fine but the category is always blank. I'm stumped.

Wow this is an incredible component with a tremendous amount of potential......but I think I found a bug....I have been playing with the Lite version to see if I want to buy the Pro....Everything worked fine until I got to the menu portion.....I'm having trouble with the menu function on the category view...It does not show up any Items that are put in a sub-category and only displays them when I put them in root level category.....and also I do not have the "Default" template as described in the yootorial....My templates show "Debug" and "Article"......and lastly the "Show Sub Categories" option does not do anything....none of my subcategories appear when I enable it.....Any ideas Sascha?

Yes I am having the same issue - I wonder if it is an error from when 1.0.2 was packed - they did not put right version, etc in. This sort of had me running in circles until I noticed NO DEFAULT

      Scott,

Did you figure out the subcategory issue? I was having the same issue I plan to check it out again this evening, but wondered if you had any luck.

Mmmm, I'm just arriving at home after a country day. I've read the 1.0.2 version update twitter and have a question about the update process. Like every extension, it isn't a real update process, I need to delete the previous version and install de new one. The bad thing is that when I delete the old version all my data and elements are deleted too. What can I do? If the changes are only at level code I think that I can uncompress the extension and overwrite the corresponding files, but what can I do if the changes are at the database? I can backup the database but this don't fix the problem because the new schema can be different and the update process can be difficult.

Is there a way to have a separate search on the catalog only? Not part of the main search which your plugin seems to do. I want to be able to search only the catalog the person is browsing.

Is it possible to have the Alpha Index on the items? So if a person clicks on a letter it brings up all the items which start with that letter?

Nice component, I'm interested in purchasing. I was wondering if a Zoo article was able to connect to the Kunena Board (formerly Fireboard) as a comment system. This is possible in Joomla articles using a plugin (ObjectClarity Kunena Discussbot) and adding a line of code at the bottom like this "{mos_KUNENA_discuss:26}". It's not practical for me to have the user to register at intensedebate or fill in his information over and over again.

Could something like this be realized as a plugin to Zoo?

Hats off guys!! Excellent Joomla addon. You inspired us to open a blog with your extensions. We where looking for adequate and simple to use blog extension and as Joomla Dev I can say that they are ALL bloated and unusable in the long run. It is 5am here and I am testing the Light version before possible purchase. Great job.

  • Hello,
this product seems to be very interesting, as I could try with the lite version.
So before buying the pro version I would like to know If it is possible to import inside a catalog some datas through files such as .csw or .xls or .txt and so on...?

I've just uploaded an archive with the spanish translation. I've only test it with the lite edition because I haven't the pro one, so if any one with a pro license can test it would be cool.

    The Archive is here: http://zooextensions.googlecode.com/files/Zoo-spanish-language.tgz

    Hi,

Do you think that - in a near futur - ZOO will be able to read and write XMP metadata on movies (qt, mpg) and pictures (tiff, raw, jpg, png, gif)?

    Thank you.
