Sphere: Different issues

Hello Yoo-Team,

I am currently using Nano2 on my website, which works well and as expected.
Trying to use Sphere I have got several issues:

  • Search position doesn't seem to be assigned in the new template? Searching for the module position failed.
  • Mainpage is not displayed although content articles, menues, etc. are correctly assigned (Works well in Nano2)
  • If no content (articles) are released for the mainpage, the main menue disappears completely.
  • Sidebar a/b do appear on the wrong location (botton of the templete)

Switching back to Nano2 ... everything is fine.

Former disturbing experiences I had, using JomSocial and Yoothemes in parallel have been sorted out by kicking JS.
The only "foreign" component on my website remains a Kuena forum.
Did somebody experience similar issues with Sphere and will there be a fix available soon?

Regards,
Thomas

There are some Module postions layouts that are different from the other Themes, like Nano2 so switching the Theme will need some readjustment of content and positions, See Features . The Menu for example is a big change.

If you do not see content in the Content on the Mani ( Home Page ? ) then check all Profile and make sure they have System Output set to show.

Do you have the sidebar issue on all pages of the site ?

Update:

The thing is, there does no "Search" position apprear, when I was trying to assign the search field.

Place the search module in sidebar-a

Interesting was, the Widgetlit (Slideshow) was displayed correctly, but the main content was not visible.

The Theme has a frontpage profile where the System Output is set to not show, I can only this of this as the reason for that 'issue" I can find no bug in this regard.

The main menue was shown but after I switched off the Widgetkit, the Main Menu disappeared completely from the frontpage

What positon was the Slideshow in ? Once I knw I can tell you if this is the intended behavior or something else.

After a few days trying I am giving up on this theme and stay with Nano2 for now, which works well for me. I am still not able to display the frontpage and I am truly not sure what the issue is. I am also thinking there should be a dedicated search position for each theme, this time it was not, which was a bit confusing. After all, the change to responsive themes is the right way and best and most useful change I have experience from YOO since a while. With the increasing number of tablet and smart-phone surfers, it's the right direction to go. Now I am looking forward to the next coming template and hope it will fit my needs to replace nano2.

Hi mustaq,

I do have the sidebar issue on the main page (Homepage) only. I did re-assign the module positions after I switched to the new template. The thing is, there does no "Search" position apprear, when I was trying to assign the search field. Interesting was, the Widgetlit (Slideshow) was displayed correctly, but the main content was not visible. The main menue was shown but after I switched off the Widgetkit, the Main Menu disappeared completely from the frontpage. I checked all required settings and could not find the issue. Have switched back to Nano2 for now and somehow stuck with this issue ...

Thomas

Hello mustaq,

Thank you for your quick answer.
I really appreciate it.
Some screen shots for better explaining the issue.

This is how it looks with Nano2:
Image

After turning on Sphere, the Main-Content on the Frontpage does not show up. Other site pages like the blog (Zoo) do work fine.

After turning off the Widgetkit, Main content is not shown and the Main Menu does disappear, too.

I will follow your advise and try to position the search field on the sidebar.

Regards,
Thomas

Just want to close this inquiry with some feedback: I truly spend a lot of time (hours) trying to make this template work but I was unable to let it display the frontpage articles. Regardless what I tried, the start page remained empty. Since all other templates I was using from Yoo worked well, I am clueless what has changed. I can only hope this is not a general change preventing me from using your great looking templates coming next. I am now waiting for your next issue and gave up on Sphere.

You might try going into the template parameters and under the profile menu select frontpage in the top dropdown. Go down the page and make sure System Output is checked and set to Yes. The thing is the instructions do not point out that for each dropdown you select there is a different view that you can work with. As far as I am concerned this is a backward way to setup the template parameters and if it works this way great but dont display the System Output at all unless the dropdown is selected. Not sure I see the logic behind showing half the parameters and the fact that YooThemes are notorious for either no tool tips or marginally detailed tips.
