RADIANCE Demo Data not appearing - all the install performed correctly!

Hi I installed Radiance this morning,

Exactly to the letter, ftp'd the demo files to an empty subdomain, created the mysql db, ran the wp-install all went perfect, logged in to the admin on wp and activated the theme, but when i look at the theme none of the Demo Data is visible, i wanted it to look as it does on the Yootheme site and adjust it from there....

Any help would be much appreciated!, just a comment, I have been installing themes for quite a while now, and its far quicker and easier to do a cpanel WP install and then just upload the theme itself via FTP or from within DB, especially for new users to WP, is there any particular reason why you do it the way you do? just curious...

You can take a look at what i currently have here: party.imarketingspecialists.co.uk as you can see it looks nothing like the demo on the site.

Please respond asap,

Kind regards
Chris

Hi Chris,
I just tested the Demo Installation Package and everything worked fine for me. Can you confirm you downloaded the WordPress Demo Package and not just the WordPress Theme? All of the data is showing up just fine for me. Uploaded the .zip, unzipped through cPanel, created a database, installed WordPress and when I was done, everything was there. You shouldn't have to activate the theme, mine was already activated when the install was done. Thanks.

Hi Zach,

Yep its definitely the Demo file, 22mb unzipped, I unzipped it on my local PC and upped it to a brand new sub-domain via filezilla ftp, then i created a DB and ran the wp-install file, then i logged in to the admin area using the credentials created, the theme was in there but not activated, there was also the default 2 wp themes, I activated it but as you can see it hasn't put any of the demo data in, what were the steps you took to do it through the CPanel?, could it possibly be because i'm installing it on a sub domain?, this is most frustrating as this theme would be perfect for the project I am working on, but want to get a head start on what options relate to the layouts on the demo, is there also a User guide for this particular theme?

Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris,
Here were my steps:

  1. Download WordPress Demo Package for Radiance
  2. On my webhost, upload that .zip file to my site directory using FTP
  3. Login to cPanel, visit the directory where the file is, right-click and press Extract
  4. From cPanel, create a new, blank database, colliation UTF-8_General_CI
  5. In my browser, visit the directory, run through the normal WP install (put in login credentials of DB just created)
  6. Finish installation
  7. Visit site

There is an install.php file in the Demo Installation Package which takes care of all of the settings - can you confirm you're using a blank database? No - it shouldn't matter if the site is a subdomain.

The documentation is an ongoing effort to further improve. While I can't be sure that there will ever be specific user guides per theme, we will definitely try to make things a bit clearer. Thanks!

Hi Zach,

Thanks for the reply, I have re-downloaded the radiance demo just to be sure, and followed all the steps you detailed to the letter, and got exactly the same outcome: radiance.imarketingspecialists.co.uk

I created a brand new database on both installs, and can confirm they work correctly as they are populating with tables, so no problems there...

This has got me scratching my head and more than a little frustrated....

I can see that the demo info is inside the files, its just not populating my site, and also with this install the theme wasn't activated again, could you please suggest something else?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
I'm honestly a bit lost here - I've followed everything by the docs and am getting an install that works as it should. Why you are not at this point leads me to think there is something on your end that just isn't syncing correctly. Since I can't replicate, I can't troubleshoot much more. If you can provide me FTP and cPanel access, I can attempt to do the install myself on your server to see if that changes anything. You can add that in the hidden information area in your original post. Thanks.

Hi Zach,

I've added the login info, hopefully we can get this resolved in case the same happens with future installs, feel free to add another sub-domain/directory if needed,

Thanks for your help and fast responses

Best Regards
Chris

Ok thanks,

Did you do everything the same as I did? as you stated you had done on your own install?, its really odd that its worked for you.

Thanks Again
