Creating compound elements

I have the need for a repeatable element that actually has a text element, media element, and image element in it? Does anyone have a sense of how difficult it would be to meld the three existing elements into one repeatable element?

I am building an application for a ethnic drum school, and they want a library of songs for their students to use as a study aid between classes. The element would be used to show all the individual drums parts for the song. The name of the part (the text element), a sound sample of the part (the media element), and the written notation of the part (image element). Of course each song has a different number of drum parts so it would need to be a repeatable element so that it can be repeated as many times as needed to properly show all parts of a song.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi,

wouldn't you rather create a type song. Which has the described elements. And have another type "songlist" that relates to those songs?

Jan

I have exactly the same requirement, also for an audio based site, so am voting the question up.
Perhaps this function could be looked at for future versions, i.e. being able to group elements at will, then apply the repeat function to the group. This one addition would greatly increase commercial potential since it would allow ZOO to be applied in many situations where it currently cannot be used. Just about any listing within a listing requires this, everything from CDs to automobile parts.

I know this is an older post but this would be very useful... to answer Jan's comment, I agree the way that you describe it would work (although I would probably use "drum part" and "song" as types). The problem with this solution is that it would require the user to submit multiple entries/submissions, one for the song and then one for each drum part. If you had a number of contributors submitting from the front end, this could get rather confusing.

Repeatable element groups are the way forward. I was thinking about this in terms of sports statistics where there would be a "season" text element and with that would be a number of "statistics" text elements (e.g games played, goals scored, fouls, yellow cards, red cards). These could then be repeated for multiple seasons. E.g.

2011/12
Games Played - 20
Goals Scored - 14
Fouls - 10
Yellow Cards - 3
Red Cards - 0

2010/11
Games Played - 17
Goals Scored - 10
Fouls - 9
Yellow Cards - 1
Red Cards - 1

Etc.

Hi,

I subscribe to this request as well.

It will be more than useful to have the possibility of repeating a group of elements.

Kind regards,
Alex
