Linked Author in Zoo Blog App

Hi there,

In the demo pages on the YooTheme website for the Zoo Blog App, underneath the main headers for each article, it states who the article is written by and the name is highlighted as a link which then takes you to a small piece on the Author ... no where can I find how to do this, does anyone know how its done?

The example page is here: http://www.yootheme.com/zoo/apps/index.php?option=com_zoo&task=item&item_id=1&Itemid=2

The Title for the first article is: 'Beautiful iPhone Wallpapers' and the line underneath is 'Written by Jane Q. Public on Thursday, 11 March 2010. Posted in Wallpapers, Web Design'. If you take a look 'Jane Q. Public' is highlighted as a link in blue. You can click on the name and it takes you to: http://www.yootheme.com/zoo/apps/index.php?option=com_zoo&task=item&item_id=38&Itemid=2 which I'm guessing is all the articles by ' Jane Q. Public' with a small piece at the top about Jane Q. Public. along with an eMail address and twitter link.

Plus, at the bottom of the article here: http://www.yootheme.com/zoo/apps/index.php?option=com_zoo&task=item&item_id=1&Itemid=2 there is the a small footer headed 'About the Author' with an eMail address and Twitter link ..... again ... how is this done? I have been scouring the YooTheme websites forums, and support pages for days to find anything that relates to how this is done, but there is nothing.

Can any one spread any light on this particular area?

If I could ask for one major thing to be improved with YooTheme it would be documentation on the website of how to do things, the rest is great, knocks spots of every other Template website.

Many thanks

Yep its like this take a look at the hyperlink in your post. Click it. WOW look at that, just like you would expect!

But with ZOO (rather expensive commercial extension built by smart people) to make that happen you would need to do the following...

  • post you item
  • relate the item to yourself... ohh wait you don't exist yet.
  • save your post
  • create a new post... named yourself (haha) even though you have already done that when you created your profile
  • go back and open said original post
  • add a related item to the post
  • select yourself (to let everyone know that you wrote your post)
  • save post again
  • bang head on table

how can a CCK that costs $130 USD not have something as simple as this? Joomla core has this.... Do you hear me YooTheme! This is a gaping hole in your product, least someone could do is respond.

I understand how this works using the related content element, however systems like K2 have user features embedded for member content driven sites. The front end input capabilities of Zoo are fantastic and I would rather use the core Joomla user manager and ACL than the K2 groups feature but I am not clear on how newly registered members content can be grouped.

In other words, I see how to create an author as an item and then link it to an article and view them in groupings respectively - however how can I register a new member, have him/her submit a piece of content and then link others to everything that user has posted?

Actually joel allready told how to do it:

Create an author the same way you create an article, then go into the article and select the author from the list. its really dead simple

I dont know why I didnt see it in the first place, but ts working.

For everybody who still has a Problem:
1 First I would add a new type (ie Author) from the Blogg App
2 Create a new Article (type Author)
3 Go to the article where you want to reference the author
4 add the autho
done

I find it amazing that there is actually something on the demo site that has been constructed by someone and no one can come back to me and tell me how it's been produced!

Not to mention that there are quite a few people out there that are asking the same thing!
