Yes. Check your modules because if your content is in a Joomla module, it will not be found. You must have content in the 'System Content' area of your website, which means that in the Profile Manager you need to enable 'System Content' for the pages to which the profile applies.

You have to search for something that is in the content area of your site. Headers and Titles can not be searched. Only the content that is in the article will be searched. Also it uses AJAX I think so give it a second to see the drop-down of the related searches. I have had trouble with this before and I actually found a plugin for Joomla that is amazing especially if your using ZOO. Check it out http://master.demo.offlajn.com/demo.html#universal_ajaxlivesearch. You can pick what you want to search and color and put it anywhere ect. But I usually just use the Yootheme search it works great 99% of the time.
