can't save widget

I try to create a slideshow, but when i hit save everything goes as if I have written nothing, and nothing is saved. Same thing happens when I try to change a setting; all info I had entered disappears. Joomla 1.7.

I have the same problem even though I've tried the suggested fixes above. Now using JCE and still cannot save any Widget:
Running Joomla 1.7.3, Zoo 2.5.6, Virtuemart 2, Widgetkit 1.0.0, JCE 2.1.19.
Any help would be appreciated - happy to supply admin access.

OK Fixed. I totally removed Widgekit, downloaded again (same version) and re-installed. Now all works correctly and I can save all of the Widgets. I hope this helps someone with the same problem.

Solution for Wordpress 3.31 - 3.3.2 and Widgetkit 1.0.5 users.

The problem with saved widget items disappear when hitting the save button got resolved by this:

  1. Go to Settings >> Writing
  2. Second option "Formatting" Uncheck "WordPress should correct invalidly XHTML automatically"

This solved my problem!

My system is the following:
Wordpress 3.3.2
Balance theme
Widgetkit 1.0.5
TinyMCE editor default

This worked for me also. I totally removed Widgekit, downloaded again (same version) and re-installed. Now all works correctly and I can save all of the Widgets. I hope this helps someone with the same problem.

I've reinstalled the component several times, and have tried all editors (and none). The problem seems to happen when you edit already saved content. The work around is horrible. I basically have to create a new entry for a slideshow or slideset, and then delete the old entry. The other problem is that when it is fixed, if I have to reinstall the fixed version, I lose all of my work.

My issues are the same as jeffsieh72 only my solution is to just disable the editor for the user, make the changes and save (Note: In JCE you can edit the code with the code editor plugin but it does not work either). Then go back and enable the editor again. Considering I am now paying for this tool I see no reason why it should not work? As is common in YooTheme forums when things are a mess NO mods or developers reply to the thread, so we can only hope they are working on this.

Same issue here. I could add images to a slideshow, but it would not save the hyperlinks I was adding to them. Uninstalled and reinstalled Widgetkit, then it worked. However, it will, again now, not save any more changes.

I am running:
Joomla 2.5.1
Widgetkit 1.0.1
JCE 2.0.20

The "Answer" voted above does NOT correct the issue.

Same problem, last version of widgetkit 1.0.5 on wordpress 3.3.1.
After save, every setting of the widget dissapear.

Fixes do not work. I should not have to turn off JCE to operate your extension I have paid for.

WTF!!!! I am about to start LOSING CLIENTS because they are frustrated that they cannot create or edit any WidgetKit items~ There are no options for adding new items, gallery folder selection is NOT working and when you go into a demo WidgetKit item to add content, ALL CONTENT DISAPPEARS!! FIX THIS...LIKE YESTERDAY..!

At least give all of the commenters here a 3 month extension on their membership for the wasted time and trouble with this essential element of Yootheme...Image

I have disabled the JCE editor (2.2.84) for the Widgetkit (1.3.1) component, but still will not allow me to update the "Template" setting to "Revista", and the slideset has disappeared from front page.

Please, what is the solution? These continual problems are getting very expensive!

I need some sort of solution or timeline on this to tell my clients. I have already had to do a partial refund to one client because they cannot save any of their slideshow items. Once they take time to work on slideshow items to get them just the way they want, then hit save, WidgetKit deletes the whole thing and leaves the WidgetKit element with NO ITEMS! It erases the WHOLE THING! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling WidgetKit, clearing the site cache, doing Writing settings uncheck below and nothing is working. Everything worked fine before the last WidgetKit update, yet I cannot download a previous (stable) version from the Yootheme website anymore. Any help, ANY HELP, would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks and take care...

Hi all,

Well I new with wordpress.. have been switching from Joomla !
I'm starting with wordpress 3.5 and the widgetkit 1.3.2.. but I still have the same issue.. whensaving everything dissapears ! I'm losing all the content of my slideshow !
I try checked the option : "WordPress should correct invalidly XHTML automatically" but it doesn't help either !

Any new suggestion would be very much appreciated !

Same here,

when selected and configured a map for example, and then hitting save, a new, blank map widget opens, and no widget is saved. what to do?

I had the same problem - it was related to TinyMCE (perhaps something in the template bollocksed it up).

Use another editor - if you have that alternative editor set to your user default, then WidgetKit will show only source editing (HTML editing without help of editor).

So - to avoid editing raw HTML code - create an article to the desired effect, view source - then copy/paste the the generated HTML code into your WidgetKit content entry area (eg: accordion item edit).

I solved the problem by uploading the template again with the demo pack. It seems that the Widgetkit and Zoo have some issues with uploading because for both I had to upload several times before they worked properly. For Widgetkit, now that there is a stable release, maybe uploading it again will take care of the problem. Good luck!

I have the same issue with JCE 1.5.7.20 and as long as I add content with no editor it will save. Not an ideal way to work and real problems if someone does not know html.

Did some more tests on this and it is happening with all editors. This was never an issue until WidgetKit went out of beta.

I have had exactly the same issue and banged my head against a wall. Turned off JCE editor and all is fine apart from the obvious that I have no JCE editor

I had the same issue. I just reinstalled and now can save new content, but I can not sytle font colors or bold, etc. Will not save. So there is a bug going on with JCE and Widegkit again.

Wishlist is to have the option to toggle editor on or off like we can do for articles. this would solve everyones issue when these bugs occur. It would be edit content, toggle editor off, then hit save. I have to do this with some articles when using some of Yoothemes style codes.

Ooops spoke to soon, It is not saving accordion. It saved my first item without any styling, example: bullets, font color. etc. but did not save my second item in the next editor. (just like the previous posts... this is on existing data trying to edit).

Same problem with slideset on wordpress (and shelf theme).... any suggestion??

update: it seems a plugin make crash the widgetkit while savings settings for the slideset... maybe the tiny mce extended... now I disabled all plugin and it works, justo complete the editing of the slideset and then re-activate the plugins...

I'm also having this problem. I can't save anything including settings on the widgets.

I have my site set up not use an editor so that's not the problem.
I'm running Joomla 2.5.1 with the latest widgetkit just re-downloaded and re-installed.
I tried setting permissions are set to their highest on all folders to troubleshoot and it didn't change the behaviour at all.

Same problem for me. Strange enough when using internet explorer i can save! (not with firefox or Safari)
Is the version Widgetkit in the template i download (Balance) different from the stand alone version?

What is up with all these "support" issues" not being addressed by staff members?

If these "forums" are not what customers should be using to get help from the staff...what should be used? Is email really the only way customers can hope to get support? Seems awfully antiquated.

Same happened for me, always had to turn JCE editor off before editing any slideshows etc.

Solved by downloading latest version of JCE (com_jce_2021).

All working now using JCE Editor.

I finally gave up on using the slideshow widget I went and got another extension that seems to be doing the job. Its Called Sp Tabs if anyone is interested in finding it.

If you are using the latest version and this still happens then you need to see what else might be buggy. With the latest update the tool has been fixed.

Only for Directadmin,

go to Directadmin login

click files
click public html
click administrator
click components
click com_widget-kit

look now on the right site of your page in Directadmin for all maps in com_widget-kit, when you see APACHE, that's the problem

select the row, en click RENAME, APACHE must not shown, your login must be shown.

I am facing the same issue. In my case the culprit is another comp- called RPL ( REALTYNA ) . Since their last update I have lost the ability of editing ( on adding pictures for example to a slideshow - there are no thumbs of the added pics - just a gray bar with the path - and nothing underneath) or saving ( after hitting save it returns empty )
Uninstalling WidgetKit, installing it back, did not helped.
I wasn't using the JCE editor - so I went ahead and installed it. Than applied the fix. Nothing helped.
Uninstalling the RPL component did the trick. But here is my dilemma. I NEED the RPL component as I am running a RealEstate site...

Can anyone in YooTheme please read/hear our grief and try to fix this ? Please?

I had the same problem and deinstall and install fixed it but you loose all your galleries (not the folder with images). But whats really disappointing is that the yoo team ignoring this problem. 40 answers and no comment from the creators.
I didn't had jce installed, so can't be the reason for the error!

Same issue here with wordpress 3.4.2, none of the suggestions in this thread have helped, unable to save widgetkit slideshows/accordions/ etc when they have images in them (just text saves fine, but that's hardly useful!)

I am having a similar issue with Joomla 2.5.8 and Widgetkit 1.3.1. The "Toggle Source Code" button is not available when using JCE 2.3.1 with widgetkit. I have tried disabling the editor, and tried other browsers (I'm using Chrome) - same resiult.

YooTeam, it looks like this has been going on for a while; you have a great product, I find it hard to believe you can't fix this quickly...

Please help.

As far as I can tell right now from initial testing, it seems like the issue has been resolved with WidgetKit Version 1.3.2. I also upgraded from Wordpress 3.4 to 3.5 and things seem to have stabilized. The real test for me will be if Editors and Contributor level users can finally save their WidgetKit items without them being deleted. I'll keep you posted...

Well once more I have to come back regarding the saving of a gallery in the big easy template.
Altough every modification works, once I add a caption in the field, after saving everything desapears again !

Any Idea about this ?

I am having a similar problem and it is driving me mad.

I put some new images in my directory for the slideshow. And now I can't save anything or even show the gallery.
I reviewed the names of all the images. They all look good. Yet, nothing I do will make it save. It sets the gallery to default and zeroes out the height and width.

This bug is very annoying and needs to be fixed! How hard can that bug be???

I had the same problem but got it solved by clearing the cache in the Joomla admin panel.
