Slideshow doesn't work properly in Joomla 2.5

Hi,
Slideshow doesn't work properly after update from Joomla 1.7 to 2.5.

I can make a slideshow, but when I save it, I can't change anything anymore. When I change something, i.e. a heading, it appears to be fine, but when I save, the change is not saved.

What can be the problem?

Have latest versions of Cloud and Widgetkit installed. And use Joomla 2.5.1

The show I'm working on:

Thankx.

Thanks, Changes are working for me in a test Slideshow I made and an edit to one of the existing ones. Maybe clear your Browser cache to try another PC.

Come on someone at Support!! I and many others have this problem with Slideshow and Joomla! 2.5.1, so don't hide the answer that you gave to fvandermeer - we ALL need a solution to this paid-for component that isn't working for us. Today would be great, yesterday even better.

PLEASE publish the solution to the whole forum.

Paul

Hi Frank,

i have the same problem: Slideshow was created some days ago, with html formatting, pictures an so on, everything was fine. But now no changes in the items are saved. I prefer to work with JCE and sometimes toggle to the soure code window for better viewing where to place text and tags. I have tried several times, no changes are saved. I do not get any error message. It just seems to save but actually nothing of the changes is saved. It just keeps the content as is.
Everything is in most current version, Joomla, JCE, yootheme template balance ....
Did you solve the problem ?
Anyone else with a solution ?

Thanks for reply

Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I didn't solve this problem, but I found an alternative way to make the slides in a slideshow. When you go tot the widgetkit/slideshow, you see at the bottom the possibility to choose for 'In Joomla' (and 'In Zoo'). When you choose the option Make in Joomla, the slideshow opens, and you can make a slideshow of a category of Joomla-articles. I made the slides I wanted in the plain Joomla-article form, saved them in a subsubcategory and chose in the slideshow interface that specific category for the slideshow. Worked!

That's the way I made this page:
Go to the slideshow in my website
It's not perfect yet, but that's because I'm experimenting. I can change everything the way I want.

I would still like to have the option of making a slideshow the way I used to. I think there may be a bug in the Widget Kit? Maybe the Yootheme team can answer this?
Good luck!

I have Joomla 2.5.1 and Widgetkit 1.0.3. The slideshow was working fine, but since today's update, it has changed the style to default, the effect to "Random Simple" and does not allow me to change either. The slideshow does not now display.

How do I publish access details without the whole world getting these?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Guys,

I just came across this question and noticed a few of you thought the answer was hidden or not being shared with the community. You may have been confused about the order of the answers because the response containing the solution was marked Accepted, moved to the top for convenience, and highlighted in green to standout. You can reorder answers from most recent to oldest by clicking the Sort Link labeled Newest, located just below the posted question. This sort option may help view responses in the order they were posted starting at the bottom and working your way to the top.

To clarify the solution posted by Mustaq and confirmed by Frank, please review quotes below:

Mustaq's Accepted Answer:

Frank Confirmed:

To clarify: Clearing the browser cache solved Paul McIntyre question as well.

I hope this is helpful in getting the most out of the Question and Answer support system. For more information, please review the Support Help and Support Tips.

Hi,

I have the same problem, but clearing browser cache and installing the component again didn't work.

My site: Joomla 2.5.4
Widgetkit 1.0.4 (just downloaded)

The problem is, that the save button don't save the widget.

You can see on the detached image the errors.

I'll leave this to Mustaq to answer. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with Joomla to track this down. Sorry about that.

Hi there, I don't know if it maybe the answer for your problem. I was using other extensions "Slideshow CK" and widgetkit can't show on the frontend, however I uninstalled it and widgetkit started to work again.

Hi,

Just bought the widgetkit and like the rest says, slideshow gives problems with saving the given width and heights.
Have to say that this is a pretty disappointing problem for a paid module.

I dont know if the rest of the widgetkit options give problems tho.

I solved the problem by making the pictures the same width and height as the widgetkit's width and height using photoshop.

Altough im happy that widgetkit is in my Joomla-life :).

Hope my solution helps people for now.

Stanley

Mustag really, open your own question? That is a great idea, so that I have to do more searching to find the solution to a problem that is obviously NOT ours to bear! WTF are the forums for if you will not share the solution (if in fact there is one!) and just make more work for us and yourself because you wont provide an answer?

This post actually did answer my question and that is that Widgetkit is not ready for the real world! The slideshow has been very problematic from day one and my recommendation to everyone is don't waist your valuable time with this beta product and use one of the many high quality extensions that work!
