Feature list - Blog Item Archive

Hello YT Members,

Some of you have been looking for a Blog Archive Widget. I have made it a while ago, but had to add more features to it, and to upgrade it.

I want to share it with you here as an image shot so you can give me some feedback about the features before I release it.

So let me know what you think.

@ Shane: hi :)

I will post a link here as soon as we launch the official website in few weeks.

I can tell you that it supports Zoo, J2.5, and I am adding optional styling right now.
Regards.

How about a Joomla module for a Zoo blog archive?

Greetings Ralharithi,

We absolutely have been looking for this exact feature. Would REALLY love to see this released and available as soon as possible.

Some FeedBack...
I would like the option to click on the month "only" and then have the blog page populate with all the articles/blog entries for that month; in your screen shot it looks like if you click on the month the menu expands further to show all the articles for that month which you can then click on - I like having that option as well, so would not want to see that go away, but would like to have both options...

Option 1 - Click on the month and blog page populates/filters the blog page with articles from that month only. Option 2 - Click on the month, and the menu further expands to list articles within that month which you can then click on (as in your screenshot).
Keep both options

I believe this is a pretty popular, if not standard, feature for bloggin platforms. We kick out lots of sites and this is one feature that we often have requested, glad to see it being developed by someone. Please keep me posted, very much looking forward to its release.

Cheers,
OSAGA

@ gavin.harper: Hi Gavin,

Maybe in 10 days I will provide you with a link to the demo website.

Thanks for the support, we have added more options to it, now it supports different templates so you can have nicer icons, different options.

@ john.baskerville: Hi John,

If I understood you right, you want years expanded by default, and the months are collapsed nesting the items. if this is right, then this will require rebuilding the code which we can do in a future release, but right now this is not possible in the current code.

I have another module that displays only months, no years but is does not have the JavaScript this module uses.

The good news we are making a complete Zoo App that has a unique feature in it to shows the time line in it, that might be of interest to you, it won't be out before 1-2 months as we still needs to iron some functionality in it.

I will post an update here soon when we have a beta.

Overall, I will talk to the guys and see if they can put your request on the task-list.

Thank you for the positive feedback.

Hello Ralharithi,

I think what you have going is just about fine, we do not want the year expanded by default, we would like the years collapsed. So, ideally you must click on the year to expand it and reveal the months... that is fine, and preferred.

I think the only difference in what we want, and what you are showing in your screenshot, is that your screenshot also has the months expanded (after clicking we assume) which then reveals the articles listed inside the module - we would not want that, our preference would be that when you click on a month that it not expand, but rather just populate/filter the blog frontpage with the articles for that selected month.

Please let me know if this makes sense, and if this will be possible in what you are developing currently.

Cheers,
John

This module could not have come at a better time. We are about to launch a website and the collapsible Blog Archive Widget is the single reamaining "must have" feature.

Would love to beta test this for you and provide feedback.
