As I mention in the title, I deleted the public_html directory, recreated it, re-installed joomla 2.5 and re-installed the Radiance template.

So you first installed a full Joomla! package (you got from joomla.org for example), most probably with standard Joomla! demo content. Then you installed the Radiance "Joomla .25 Template" and set Radiance to be the default template? The standard template would then have its menu in "position-7" indeed.

But this is not the way to go if you want to get Joomla! with the template Radiance and YOOtheme demo content fully set up.

Download the installer named Joomla 2.5 Demo Package (not "Joomla 2.5 Template"!). Delete the content of your public_html directory again, including all files and folders. Proceed by expanding, uploading, accessing, and setting up the YOOtheme package like a fully new Joomla! installation, because it is one such.

This package contains the full Joomla! core, the template Radiance and the YOOtheme demo content. It is set up to use Radiance and the positions of Radiance. The installation procedure is exactly the same as with a "standard" Joomla! installer.

Please take a look at the documentation on how to Install a Theme/Template Demo Package.

Thank you

No need to get rid of the menu module, just edit the 'menu' module and change the position from position-7 to menu. Position-7 is most likely one of the default joomla theme positions.
