Square Theme

Get funky with Square, our November 2013 theme release. This fresh theme will shake up your company or business website with a powerful, clean design and vibrant colors. It comes with a variety of styles and backgrounds, making it a beautiful base for all kinds of web creations.

Square comes with tons of nifty little features. Check out the background scroll effect, which gradually changes your site's background color when scrolling down. Also a number of slick scale, fade and slide animations hit in when you scroll the page, adding a dynamic feel to it. Use panels to create a nice pricing table and present product features with beautiful UIkit icons. As a little goodie all images, like those in the slideshow, can be downloaded and used with the theme.

Built on Warp7 and UIkit Square provides full support for LESS. You can easily create your own style with just a few clicks in the Customizer and change colors, spacing and fonts without having to write a single line of code. To get you started, Square already provides 8 different style variations to choose from.

  • Full UIkit integration
  • 8 pre-built style variations available
  • Background scroll effect and Slideshow Style for Widgetkit
  • Customizer with color picker and Google fonts support
  • Beautiful off-canvas navigation for mobile devices
  • All Warp framework features are available

Default design: Text color of Widgetkit components is white and the background is also white, therefor unreadable.

It's good but the last few templates have been very bad for use in MAC Safari. For me anyway. Unusable really. Lot's of flickering and unsmooth scrolling in some of the colour variations. I guess it all the 'unessesary' background effects that are doing it. I haven't checked, but these can probably be turned off. Is that right?

Are yooteam testing their themes in MAC safari?

I found the template not bad and not good... It's clean, ok, good for a portfolio or so on but to create a template for a customer it's not usable...

Another thing is that the template take a lot of time to be load... The effect of the slideshow on the homepage is breaking (on firefox) when I use the arrow or button to slide... same on safari...

For me the last good theme was the glass theme...

Please go back to the roots !

you are of course entitled to your opinion, but we have to say in yootheme's defence, this is a VERY simple template (in our opinion) - how much simpler do you want?

Totally once again unuseable for my daily business like all of your last templates.

Why there is no shop template? Business templates with glossy menu effects? Without giant blending effects? With a framed body and a easily to change bg? I need so much time to edit your templates - this is really not an base for using them for smaller business (like house-painter, garages, owner of holiday vacations etc.!)

I am really disappointed that you don't heard the critique of a lot of your members of the last 4 - 5 month! You really want to go this way? Perhaps with a lot of customers less I could imagine.

Please consider that comments like "nice" or "great" don't reflect the main view!

    Kind regards,
    Jörg

I had to update my skills too to recognize the more capable structure. Really I think you will start liking it when you become more familiar with the capabilities of the new frame work.
Perhaps some will leave, but new ones might come. I have alerted several to take a look at how capable the new warp is.

But schmallegger, how should they determine what the market needs? By looking what is out there already?! I think it is a thought provoking theme to embrace touch browsers.
And even though I have not found a use this yet I think Yootheme has done a great job again in pulling its users along to try something new. And to provoke newbies to take a closer look at UIkit's possibilities.

      thanks yoo

        Hi Bart,

not every Webdesigner has so innovative customers which like this kind of templates that Yootheme presented the last month. Please notice that a lot of the customers are smaller business partners ..- they want an informative and solid style.

I really like this theme and the options you've been opening up for us with the last few releases. As a designer your templates form the backbone of many of our clients sites and we very much value the solid coding and options you give us.

That said, and please hear this, Warp 7 and the customizer approach is KILLING US!!

The old Warp 6 system where we had separate css files for specific parts of the template was awesome, we could heavily customize the templates, tear them apart and put them back together as per the clients needs. Now I have to dig through almost 6000 lines of un-annotated code to find what I'm looking for. I have to target each element with firebug and guess at which css class you're making changes such as focus and hover to. It's exhausting and has increased out development time by at least 4 times.

The customizer approach is not a professional solution. Power users do not have the freedom we need to alter the templates to suit our clients needs. I'd hazard a guess that many of your clients are developers of some description, please please keep us in mind. We need to edit css files via dreamweaver etc, keep the customize as an option but give us a 'developer' folder with annotated css broken out into usable segments.

For us (us being 6 different collaborators all with developer level accounts for 4 yrs +) Warp 7 is too much work to heavily customize & we're now looking at other template clubs.

I totally understand you. We had the same problems. The customizer is not a tool for developers but for customers doing some tweaks. We still did not switch to warp 7 because we haven't found a workflow which is as effective as before. We created a custom grunt build which is capable of automatic less compiling and stuff.
Problem is that uikit and an uikit based templates are different beasts. So as long we don't figure out how to create a custom grunt build file for a uikit joomla template we're not switching. There are ways of customizing a warp 7 based template writing pure css or using hooks only but thats just not the way to go. Building a warp 7 based template without auto less compiling files/preprocessing is like you noticed a pain in the ass.

I can tell you that from a ground up rebuild experience Warp 7 is tedious and not worth the dev time. I used the Mosaic template for a 'more understanding' clients site which allowed us to spend the time to pull it apart and really get to know the framework. At the end we're scratching our heads and just disappointed.

Our solution was to use the overrides as documented with simple color changes etc replaced throughout a custom style while major css tweaks were place din a custom css file in the custom folder. This way I can easily find and fix any of the prime changes without having to dig through 5000 lines of code. It's not an elegant solution, it's clumsy and the number of !important callouts are a joke.

Back to Warp 6 and hope it continues to get supported.

Like i said. Using a static custom css file is possible, but not really the way to go if you can benefit from less.

I totally relate with what you are going through. I took nano3, lava and moreno for a spin and it's significantly increased my development time.

I know LESS is the way forward but I don't like the new approach YOOtheme has taken with Warp 7. I'm hoping it will get better with time. (I guess that's why master theme (Warp 7) is not released yet :)

Anyhow, for now I've integrated UIkit into Warp 6 and I like the look of things so I'm going to use that for a while.

I have waited for so long for Master Theme Warp 7 but nothing seems coming. They had promised the end of summer...summer is way gone now entering winter. Maybe they had a change of mind about the free theme. My comments about this have largely gone unanswered. Maybe we need to rally for the administrators and developers at Yootheme to release the free version

same issue here.. mosaic was a nightmare to customize.. i had it planned for one customer - but quickly overhauld that idea and switched back to master.
now i did spent several hours with the customizer.. but i still not understand the way some options work - and end up with custom.css files with more than 1000 lines...to get what i want.. therefore I agree - WARP6 was so far better.. but lets hope WARP7 will be overworked - and the next Update is closer to our expections

Absolutely, I wish there was a developer option for the template and the customizer option for other users. Very all over the place. I feel like the customizer has added 3-5 more steps to every change I want to make. Its unfortunate because I love yootheme, warp 6 was amazing and I really have started to look for other options because I do not know if I will be renewing my developer subscription.

What has happened to web design these days? We have moved to a dull colors no variety designs like Windows Metro look. I really hope we can move towards a more modern design soon and move away from the flat colors we have now. The last few templates just look dull.

Sorry but for me this themes Customizer bring nothing... I have open it and test it during 3 hours, after that, I can just say you that I will never use this interface...

You talk about amazing ? Yeah after using the Customizer, you will get the same template that everybody but with other color... For me not amazing... When I work on your theme, I don't want to have any restrictions...

Before with WARP 6, it was 1000000 more better and easyer to customize your theme... Now it's just a hell road...

We have renew our subscription last week cause we are Yootheme client for more than 5 years and are hoping you will go back to the roots as soon as possible...

Please give us back our warp6, and forget this Ulkit that complicate everything... Give us back the simply typography option that our customers can use...

Or if you are happy with the new Warp7 and Ulkit integration, please give us the possibility to use Warp 6 and basic typography like before (most of all here don't understand your way, please explain us WHY ? Did you have a new boss ? Some new employee ? What's happended ?)

          sascha

Actually UIkit offers most of the old Warp 6 typography style and much more. Example: To style a list you use the "uk-list-line" class instead of "list". It is not that hard and is conflict free. Everything is well documented here http://www.getuikit.com

The customizer is great for Non-Developers who don't know any CSS. We think it is a great addition. You don't have to use the customizer if you don't want to.

We will make CSS customization easier again with the Warp 7.2 update which is planed by the end of the week.
